Joseph Gulizia

President & CEO, UniversalCare Home Health

Joseph Gulizia has been involved in operating Long Term Care, Retirement Homes and Continuing Complex Care facilities since 1997. He has held various positions such as Administrator, Regional Director and Director of Operations, Managed Homes for a large publicly traded company.

As the Director of Operations, Managed Homes, he managed up to ten (10) homes with an annual operating budget of $80 million dollars. He is known for providing exceptional support and leadership to his partners and the communities he does business in.

Joseph has developed strong relationships with many health care organizations and since 2003 he has raised over $1.2 million dollars NET for their benefit.

His educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science at York University and a Certificate in Long-Term Care Administration from Ryerson University.

As President and CEO, Joseph focuses on bringing value to his partners/stakeholders and is able to ensure that their goals are achieved by leveraging UniversalCare’s Pillars of Success.

 

Jillian Garcia-Yalung

General Manager/Clinical Director

Jillian promotes positivity of life and expands it at the workplace. For the past 11 years, she has proven herself to be an accomplished health care leader in the long-term care and retirement home sectors.

Her competent professional experience ranged from her lead roles in RAI-MDS, Infection Prevention and Control, and Continuous Quality Improvement. She has been the Clinical Director for Richview Manor since 2021 and recently stepped into the Interim General Manager role in January 2024.

As the General Manager, she oversees the daily operations of the home by meeting the needs of the residents, families, the team, and the home’s partners through maintaining trusting relationships, her commitment, compassion, insight and servant leadership.

 

Paola Nombrado

Marketing Manager

With an unbridled passion for improving the quality of life for seniors, Paola is dedicated to connecting seniors to a community that offers warm, inviting environments where they can thrive, regardless of their abilities and interests.

Paola’s years of experience in Digital Advertising and her passion for learning have helped her achieve marketing objectives and occupancy goals. She is adept at creating and implementing effective marketing strategies that reach and engage her target audience. As a creative and strategic thinker, she constantly seeks new ways to improve and optimize her marketing strategies and is always open to learning new skills and taking on new challenges.

She is a friendly and approachable person, who enjoys building relationships with her clients and colleagues. She values teamwork and collaboration, and she is always ready to lend a helping hand.

 

Anna Walpole

Life Enrichment Manager

With a fresh and spirited approach to life enrichment, Anna emphasizes programs that keep residents physically, cognitively and emotionally fulfilled and that confer a sense of community and belonging among the residents. Above all else, Anna believes that the activities offered should, not only be entertaining, but also be therapeutic and healing for residents who have cognitive, physical or emotional impairments. To exemplify this, Anna has structured several programs, which are geared towards retaining or bolstering cognitions and physical fitness. Apart from her in-house responsibilities, Anna also works closely with the community to direct events as well as to establish programs that will positively affect residents.

Anna’s qualifications stem from the variety and the complexity of her past experience and education. Anna is a Registered Social Service Worker, with educational experience in Volunteer Management, and has been working with seniors for more than fifteen years. Anna’s past experiences include working with seniors in the community, where she connected seniors to cultural, social and medical resources, as well as in in long-term care and in retirement living environments, including the management of an Alzheimer’s and Dementia Unit for four years. It is because of this wealth of experience that Anna feels that she can see residents holistically and understand their individual personalities and idiosyncrasies.

 

Margaret Gonsalves

Culinary Services Manager

Food and nutrition has always been at the forefront of Margaret’s career.

Margaret’s career began as a nutrition tech in acute care Hospital, where she developed her knowledge for nutritional care propelling her to the field of clinical health promotion that included educating cardiac patients for continuous quality improvements. She also wanted to learn more within the hospital environment and pursued more education in Environmental services, occupational health and Safety and became a manager in a diverse support service team.

Having witnessed her own family members in long term environments has fuelled her passion, over the last 19yrs.

Margaret has focused her career on our seniors, creating meal services that enhance the living experiences of the residents, as well as creating a team environment understanding full well there is strength in numbers.

She will continue to motivate her team to achieve results, not only to meet goals but excel and challenge their own abilities beyond their own expectations.

 

Lourdes Pablico

Office Manager

Lourdes Pablico is the Office Manager at Richview Manor. She started working at Universal Care since 2014. She worked in two of their homes – Mackenzie Health Hospital Long Term Care and Villa Colombo Vaughan, before coming to Richview.

She graduated in Accounting and Payroll Administrator course. She holds a PCP – Payroll Compliance Professional at National Payroll Institute (NPI). She also holds a license in Life and Health Insurance at FSRA- Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario and a certified PSW. As an Office Manager at Richview, she is responsible for the two Union and non-Union Payroll, she is also responsible for some part of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable of the home.

Off work, she loves karaoke and hanging out with her son.
