With programs running seven days a week (from 9 am to 8 pm on weekdays and 11 am to 7 pm on weekends), Richview Manor’s Life Enrichment Department ensures that there are a plethora of programs available to all residents, whenever is most convenient for them.  The philosophy of the Life Enrichment Department is to develop programs aimed at being socially, physically and emotionally fulfilling, with a particular emphasis on programs that, directly or indirectly, bolster resident’s cognitions and memory.  Likewise, all Life Enrichment staff members are extremely qualified and require a Degree’s in Social Service Work, Social Service Work of Gerontology, or Recreational Therapy – and more than this, they are also required to be registered under the College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. Some of our larger life enrichment programs and services include:

  • Aquafit: Aquafit allow residents to participate in pool-based exercise regimens led by a professional Aquafit instructor, at our in-house pool.  Aquafit is a great program for residents who do not feel confident in their physical abilities, are recovering from a physical injury or who simply want a refreshing and unique workout.
  • Montessori Based Dementia Programming: Montessori Based Dementia Programming (MBDP) at Richview Manor is a new and expanding program that aims to increase the cognitions, positive behaviours and memory of residents who show the signs and symptoms of Alzheimer’s and other Dementias.
  • Spiritual Services: At Richview, we understand and respect that a person’s faith is paramount to their identity, personality and inner peace.  As a result, we ensure that each and every one of our residents has the spiritual services of their denomination and faith available to them at regular times.
  • Volunteer Driven Services and Community Partnerships: Some of our residents’ favourite programs are actually the volunteer driven services, such as knitting and jewellery with Maria, spiritual services and even classical music concerts.  Apart from these, Richview maintains a strong community presence with a variety of partners, such as the Musaic School of Music, First Maple Girl Guides, Villanova College, Studio David Bertram, and Godin School of Music (to name a few) – in fact it is because of these volunteer groups that Richview is able to offer residents with such as a diverse selection of activities, programs and events.
